The last week has been a pleasant blur of culture, overnight buses, cities, people and food. We decided to take the longest possible overland route from Sweden to France travelling through Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius, Warsaw, Prague, Munich, Geneva and finally arriving in Chamonix. We wanted to savour a taste of these countries we may never get to explore. Just to see. And we have seen. Places we wanted to stay in and explore and places we couldn’t wait to leave. As a bonus I can confidently say I have mastered the art of sleeping on a bus. However even after that string of visits I never really know what to do in cities. I usually end up feeling robbed of my money and energy with little to show for it. A typical city day for me goes like this: wander around looking at nice buildings, try to find a great coffee spot with varying degrees of success, wander around again, become grumpy, realise it’s 4pm and I have missed lunch again, eat lunch, think about going to a museum, wander around and finish off the day with some night time wandering. Nevertheless each day of wandering something is found that inspires. A person, a church, a dog or the afternoon light. I hope you enjoy our snippets of city inspirations.

Looks like you’re having fun. Great pictures and captions. Hopefully you’ll be able to savour some of the beauty of Europe. I dropped a line by email but not sure if it got through.
Regards,
Jim
